What is MSCR?
MSCR stands for Madison School-Community Recreation. MSCR was established in 1926 to provide a municipal recreation program for the citizens of Madison, under the direction of the school district. The mission of MSCR is to enhance the quality of life for individuals in the Madison Metropolitan School District and for the community by providing recreation and enrichment opportunities year-round that are accessible to all MMSD residents.
What will an internship at MSCR include?
At MSCR we strive to give interns a well-rounded internship experience to prepare them for their next professional steps. Internships typically include a major assignment to one of our program areas, with supplemental duties in supporting areas of interest. We work with each individual intern candidate to coordinate their experience with existing requirements and standards of their program.
What program areas are available?
MSCR program areas include:

How will I be evaluated?
MSCR works with individual internship programs to complete the required evaluation and project materials. In addition, you will receive an evaluation compiled by the program areas you have worked with. Exit interviews and career development meetings are done with each intern to provide valuable information and resources for moving into a career in recreation or related fields.
Compensation:
Interns will receive approximately $100/week for a full-time placement or a percentage for part-time placement, for the duration of their internship (term). Additional paid hours are available on an “as needed” basis.
Selection Criteria:
Applicants whose experience and training are most closely suited to the needs of MSCR will be selected for internships. Criteria will be based on knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to the position, and previous paid and volunteer experience. Intern candidates must meet minimum qualifications of two years of college or work experience in recreation, education or related field.
